Game 11 Takeaways – Utah Jazz vs Dallas Mavericks
Jazz Unbeaten While Wearing Classic Edition Purple Jerseys.
The Utah Jazz welcomed the Dallas Mavericks to Salt Lake City Wednesday evening for the second matchup between the two organizations this season.
Utah was riding a four-game losing streak, making this game all the more important for the club.
The Jazz were also debuting the Classic Edition purple throwback jerseys that everyone has been looking forward to seeing in action.
Fortunately, the Jazz were able to bust the slump, beating Dallas 117-102.

Quick Notes
#1 | How Bad Did We Need This?
After four losses in a row and being winless at home through the first four attempts, it goes without saying that the Jazz were in desperate need of a victory against Dallas.
I hate to be that guy, but I’d almost go as far as to say we were already seeing a “must-win” situation this year.
Luckily, the home team came away with the victory, but it still leaves me unsure about upcoming games and the season in general.
It’s still too early to be that guy, Kelby.
Stop being that guy.
#2 | Another Appearance by Donnie Dunko
I’ll just leave this here:
#3 | Using Dallas Mavericks Games in Our Analysis
While the Dallas Mavericks have a bright future ahead and a core of young stars, they still obviously aren’t anywhere near being a top-tier NBA team this season.
My question is:
Should we be using these games as a way of knowing how good the Jazz actually are?
While we can get information from any type of game that the Jazz are playing, it may be a mistake to use these types of games in our long-term analysis.
The Jazz beat the Mavericks again. Is this good? Yes. Does this mean the Jazz have it figured out?
Not even close.
#4 | Playing Dallas Often and Early
After already playing Dallas twice in our first 11 games, the Jazz head to Dallas yet AGAIN next week to face the Mavericks for the third time in 12 games.
That means that literally almost 25% of our games will have come against the same opponent this year.
But… how much can I really complain? A third of our wins this year have come at Dallas’ expense.
#5 | Who Shows Up on Friday?
Does this Jazz team show up on Friday or does Monday’s team who lost to Toronto?
