Game 27 Takeaways – Utah Jazz at San Antonio Spurs

December 10, 2018 by Kelby Jones Leave a Comment

Game 27 Takeaways

Utah Jazz at San Antonio Spurs

Jazz find themselves on yet another road trip, lose opener in San Antonio.

The Utah Jazz began another road trip Sunday evening in San Antonio. On top of playing even more games on the road, the Jazz get to play them back-to-back.

Utah will be facing the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday night in OKC, just a night after playing in San Antonio. Not to mention, OKC may be looking for a little revenge, but that may just be me overthinking things…

Anyways, Utah got off to a slow start before making a furious comeback, which peaked early in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately for the Jazz, the timing of the comeback was all wrong.

Jazz fall to the Spurs in San Antonio, 110 – 97.

Next up, at Oklahoma City on Monday night.

Quick Takeaways

One Bad Quarter vs One Bad Half

The Utah Jazz scored a whopping 18 points in the first quarter Sunday in San Antonio. Luckily, one bad quarter per game is usually where Utah lives,… right?

You just hate to see the dagger so early, ya know?

Luckily, Utah was still able to put up a fight.

This is the kind of stuff I’m looking for. Not so much those first two quarters, but how the team responds when they have that kind of stretch.

Hopefully that 36-pointer, and a good fought second half translates into momentum going into OKC (see below).

OOOOOOOklahoma (ugh)

Just so you all know, I say “ugh” because honestly, Oklahoma is kind of the worst.

Anyways, while Oklahoma City may be looking for a little bit of revenge after the Jazz handed it to them in the first round of last year’s playoffs, I can see this one going Utah’s direction.

Why?

For some incredibly frustrating yet unknown reason, these are the kinds of games the Utah Jazz show up for. Not the Pacers or the second game against the Spurs…

The Jazz show up for the big ones.

Heck, let’s even place the bet:

Spida Speaks w/o Speaking

The Utah Jazz were in a bad place to start the third quarter off. Fortunately, Donovan Mitchell decided to take things over, ultimately finishing the game with 27 points.

How did I know Donovan was taking the game over for his team?

Well, outside of hitting that first 3PA out of halftime, he had this look on his face that I could just… read for some reason.

It kinda looks like this, but not exactly…

and luckily, the look usually leads to a lot of this…

and a lot of this…

Game 25 Takeaways | Utah Jazz vs San Antonio Spurs

December 6, 2018 by Kelby Jones Leave a Comment

Utah Jazz vs San Antonio SpursGame 25 Takeaways

Utah Jazz vs San Antonio Spurs

Jazz set franchise record for 3PM in game en route to obliterating Spurs.

The Utah Jazz finally won a home game.

With San Antonio in town, many fans weren’t sure they were going to get to witness a victory in-person. However, the Jazz gave the home crowd a show, setting a franchise record for most 3-pointers made in a game with 20.

The Jazz run away with this one, which was never in doubt, 139 – 105.

Watch the full game highlights below:

Quick Takeaways

Shots From Deep, Obvs…

The Utah Jazz set a franchise record for 3-point attempts made in a single game Tuesday night against San Antonio. The final number of 3PA that went in?

20.

Am I the only one who thinks that number is kinda low? Doesn’t Steph Curry hit that many by himself in what seems like each and every single game he plays in?

Either way, it was nice to see the ball going through the hoop.

Here’s my question: how much of this has to do with Threezus himself, the one and only Kyle Korver?

Is shooting contagious? Tune into The Jazz Fan Show Podcast Episode 10 (Sunday morning at 9:00 AM on 1280 AM and 97.5 FM, The Zone Sports Network), where Coach Phil gives us his answer!

Everybody Eats

The highest scoring Jazz player against the Spurs was Donovan Mitchell, who led the team with…

20 points…

All I want to do with this one is leave this image here and let it marinade…

Feels Good to Finally Get One

This is gonna be short, but I just wanna say how nice it felt to watch the Utah Jazz finally run another team out of Vivint Smart Home Arena.

It’s no secret that the Jazz have been on the road a lot already this season, and when they’ve been home, they’ve been beaten time and time again.

It was just nice to see the team get a solid win at home with their home crowd in the stands.

End of takeaways.
