Game 21 Takeaways
Utah Jazz vs Indiana Pacers
Jazz fall to Pacers in quick stop at home before another big road trip.
The Utah Jazz played a home game for the first time in awhile Monday, returning to Salt Lake City for a quick layover before embarking on yet another east coast road trip.
Adding insult to injury, the game was the second of a back-to-back. The first, of course, being Sunday night’s victory over the Kings in Sacramento.
Donovan Mitchell sat out his second straight game with a rib contusion, originally suffered during Nov. 13’s road game in Memphis.
Utah fell to Indiana in Indianapolis last week by a large amount, and were hoping to not commit the same mistakes again. Unfortunately, another slow start doomed the Jazz, who fell to 9 – 12 on the season, losing to the Pacers 121 – 98.

Game 21 Takeaways
Utah Jazz Finding New Ways to Lose
So, I’ve hammered the whole “slow start” thing pretty much to death throughout the lifetime of this blog. But in my defense, the Jazz have been getting off to some pretty slow starts…
But I digress.
Let’s take a look at how the Utah Jazz started out last night against the Indiana Pacers in Salt Lake City:
Hey… eight points isn’t THAT bad, right?
A little added focus, and we’re right back in this thing…
Okay. Another decent quarter. No worries here.
You do realize I’ve seen Alec Burks score 11 points in like… 90 seconds or something, right?
Yeah, yeah. I get it…
But hey, ANY team can have a tough three quarters.
I bet the Jazz will finish this one out strong and get some momentum for the road… right?
If you zoom in, you can actually see a tiny white flag at the exact point the Jazz gave up.
Utah Jazz Reaching 50 Wins
I predicted pretty early on, in fact it may have even been before the season began, that the Utah Jazz would reach 50 wins this season.
Now that the season is 25% complete, let’s see how obtainable 50 wins will be.
The Utah Jazz currently have a record of 9 wins and 12 losses.
That means that over the final 61 games of the season, the Utah Jazz will have to win 41 games and only lose 20.
As I eyeballed the remaining schedule, I can see a Utah Jazz team ACTUALLY PLAYING WELL winning 36 more games this season.
Here’s my question:
What is the least amount of games the Utah Jazz can win during the regular season and still get a 6 seed or higher in the playoffs?
Will We Survive the Next Month?
Let’s take a look at the Utah Jazz’s next 20 opponents:
Best case scenario is like… 10 – 10 right?
So, what happens if we go say 7 – 13 (which is exactly what happened last season)?
Does the team give up? Do we see a trade take place?
I’M NOT FREAKING OUT YOU’RE FREAKING OUT
