Game 10 Takeaways – Utah Jazz vs Toronto Raptors
Jazz drop another and remain winless at home this season.
The Utah Jazz welcomed the Toronto Raptors to Salt Lake City Monday night for the first matchup between these two squads this year.
Toronto was without star Kawhi Leonard (just like most of our other opponents have been without their star…) and on the second game of a back-to-back this road trip.
These two factors left Jazz fans thinking this could be a drop game for the Raptors. However, this early in the year and with a new-look team and organization, the last thing Toronto was looking to do was let one slip away.
Toronto ends up winning this one on the road in Utah 124-111 to become the first NBA team to reach 10 wins this year.

Quick Notes
#1 | Shoot The … nvm
Here’s some of Utah’s shooting numbers against Toronto:
FG% – 44.2% (38/86)
3P% – 25.8% (8/31)
FT% – 65.9% (27/41)
I’m sorry but this just isn’t going to cut it if we want to be able to hang with other top-tier teams in the west.
What do you think? Should Utah make a move or should they stand pat and wait for it to start clicking again?
#2 | Good Teams Play Defense… Right?
Let’s take a look at the +/- for three of the Utah’s starters against Toronto:
Joe Ingles: -20
Derrick Favors: -22
Ricky Rubio: -22
I don’t really have anything real to say about this. Just wanted to point it out…
#3 | Rule Change to Blame?
We mentioned in a previous podcast that the new rule changes which the NBA had implemented may actually help the Jazz.
We may have spoke too soon…
In a recent story published by The Deseret News, Rudy Gobert explained how he felt the new NBA defense rules are hurting the team’s ability to defend as a unit.
“A lot. I think it impacts everyone,” Gobert said. “We want to be a physical team and we want to impact the other team’s movement. It’s a big change and it’s hard with all those screens and guards that are using that as an advantage to get fouled. It’s hard, but it’s the same for everyone so we have to adapt.”
Will this be a continuing issue for the team moving forward? Let’s hope Quin has the answer.
#4 | The Right Piece
I mentioned this earlier, but does the Utah Jazz organization need to bring in one more piece this season? I really want to know your thoughts and suggestions for good players who may fit well in Utah’s system.

#5 | Threat Level Midnight
At what point do we decide to freak out a little bit as a fan base?
How many games do we need to lose before it’s appropriate to start getting mad?
Oh, and should we ever BOO the home team?
Hopefully I can stop asking myself these questions soon and start asking how long until the playoffs start.
